About the Item

Pair of Italian neoclassical gilt-wood side chairs with Swans and Lyres, late 19th c. Beautifully carved swan and lyre backs. Upper frame backs incised and gilded on a ivory painted ground scrolling acanthus leaves on the upper frames and gilded circles down the sides/bottom of the frame. Legs are gilded and ivory painted at the top and incised with decoration. A pale yellow damask covers the seat. Measures: 18.25" wide x 16" deep x 33.5" high x 19" seat height Condition: Slight wear and losses to gilding, particularly on legs. Damask has slight mildew spotting around edges. Provenance: Private Estate, East Hampton, New York.
