About the Item

Pair of L. & J.G. Stickley Co. Chestnut Ladderback and Upholstered Side Chairs in Shaker manner. Material Chestnut with cotton velvet upholstery. Original finish with seat Cushions Reupholstered to closely match the original Stickley fabric. Excellent condition, including upholstery with lovely patina. Purchased for $2800 in 1983 in Lenox, Massachusetts. from antiques dealer Charles Flint and used in previous owner In-Law's Law office for nearly 40 years. These chairs, according to the dealer at the time of sale, were from the estate of Mrs Leopold Stickley, who died in 1981. According to the Director of the Stickley Museum Amanda Clifford, Gustav Stickley had made Shaker like chairs for family and friends at the Mottville Chair Factory in Shaneateles, NY, but could not determined if these were made by Gustav Stickley or Leopold Stickley. Measures 21" in width, 19" in depth 39" in height, Seat height is 18"
