Set of Antique Handmade, Upholstered Rustic Wood Chairs from Northern Spain

About the Item

A more or less matched set of four rustic country style side chairs following popular design traditions of the province of Navarra, Basque Country in northern Spain. Forceful and strong, these chairs exhibit both artistry and practicality in their form and hand-crafted detailing. Structurally solid, the wood furniture shows the marks and wear of well over 100 years of use, adding character and alluding to a life in the villages of the forested north. The slightly eccentric, striped orange rust and brown upholstery is most probably not original, but certainly adds to the chairs' uniqueness and charm. Statement pieces that will carry the slightly brutalist, functional forms of the pueblo into a clean and modern setting, creating visual contrast and adding a rustic vibe.
