Mid Century Modern Large Slipper Lounge Chairs in Butterscotch Peruvian Alpaca
Located in Saint Louis, MO
This uniquely large pair of slipper chairs fully restored from top to bottom and newly upholstered in hand sewn Alpaca hides is without a doubt the Cadillac of Mid Century Modern luxury and style. Large seat. Large enveloping seat back with pinched wing back corners beckon you to drape yourself in whichever way feels right. Form is reminiscent of Paul Laszlo and his mid century modern silhouettes but roomier. The new Alpaca upholstery is truly divine - a blanket of artisan hand sewn butterscotch color hides carefully stitched together to create a blanket of organic uniformity. The softest hide in the world, Alpaca is baby soft to the touch. Original walnut bases newly refinished and restored to their original luster. Brass sabots. One of a kind furniture art. William Pahlmann Thebes Chairs in New Embroidered Linen Upholstery, circa 1964
Located in Saint Louis, MO
Rare pair of fully restored Mid Century Modern Thebes Chairs by William Pahlmann in new woven linen upholstery with minimalist linear design. Described as a "Design Legend" by Architectural Digest, William Pahlmann was inspired by ancient cultures and styles. He incorporated some of those ancient elements into mid century modern furniture. That eclectic mix made his pieces stand out from other mid century modern designs of the period. These Thebes chairs showcase Pahlmann's unique talent and merge modern mid century lines with Egyptian elements. Elegant. Affluent. Stately profile features clean mid century modern lines finished with Egyptian feet...

Florence Knoll for Knoll International Lounge Chair in Teak
Located in Waalwijk, NL
Florence Knoll for Knoll International, lounge chair, model '51', teak, fabric, United States, 1955 This slipper chair model 51 is designed by Florence Knoll. The teak frame of the chair is sleek in form. The angled seat is placed upon the squared-off frame. Maximum seating comfort is ensured by the wide seat and tilted backrest. Florence Knoll (1917-) was trained as an architect and had a sense of style from a very young age. In 1936 she met Alvar Aalto and was trained by Marcel Breuer, Walter Gropius and Mies van der Rohe. This meant that although she was barely out of her teens, she was educated by the best of the European modernists. When she arrived in New York Knoll worked on interior projects (being the only female) which is how she came to know Hans Knoll. When Florence joined Knoll, the planning unit started. Florence also made sure that the designs where more 'American Modernist' instead of Scandinavian, When Hans Knoll died she...

Scandinavian Modern Scissor Lounge Chair by Folke Ohlsson for DUX
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome and iconic Scandinavian Modern Scissor lounge chair designed by Folke Ohlsson for DUX. It is in wonderful vintage condition. The wood frame has been restored; however, there may still be small signs of age. We did have to fill some rather deep flaws in the wood. The straps have been replaced with appropriate new straps. And the foam cushions are new and newly upholstered. Please see photos, circa 1950s. Now you can get all your DUX in a row!! Sorry, I couldn’t resist. This is the iconic and beautiful Scissor Lounge Chair. It was designed by Folke Ohlsson for his company DUX, Inc. purportedly in 1949. It is so incredible in its simplicity and when viewed from the side you can see immediately where it got its name. We are very excited about this wonderful chair here at our shop. Its walnut frame has been completely restored and we have replaced all the straps, which were beyond repair, with proper strapping. Plus, we have made new foam cushions and upholstered them in a fabulous black and taupe horizontal stripe fabric. Folke Ohlsson is a Scandinavian Modern Swedish furniture...
