1953 Sherman Bertram Sofa and Ottoman Heavy Boucle Greta Grossman

About the Item

A rare form from Sherman Bertram, a modern furniture company out of California. Sherman Bertram employed Greta Grossman at the time, it is unknown if this is one of her designs. This curvy sofa with cues to Vladimir Kagan and the ottoman combination lending way to Isamu Noguchi. This is the only example we have seen that has surfaced outside of the Julius Shulman Archive. A truly rare form, with great design cues. This will surely set a part your design. Incredible construction with 6 way hand tied springs. Unmarked. Condition: Newly upholstered in heavy tan Boucle. All springs were retied and secured. All new foam. The original conical black painted legs show some signs of wear including dents bruises and scrapes commensurate with age and use.
