About

Patinated leather 932 modular sofa range by Mario Bellini for Cassina. Made in Italy circa 1965.

Armchair also available in separate posting.

"The iconic Le Grand Confort armchair designed by Le Corbusier inspired Bellini to reject on the new possibilities offered by expanded polyurethanes. Unconstricted by a rigid structure, the armchair can be thought of entirely in sartorial terms, with fabric 'girdles' around the upholstered sections. Small plywood panels, acting as pieces of flexible cartilage inside the body of the chair, were sufficient to counterbalance the belts' traction. Bellini furnished the home designed for himself in 1966 with armchairs and sofas from the 932 range." - "Mario Bellini" by Enrico Morteo.
