This is the only sofa from this era, I have ever seen with the porters back, it has an exquisite patination that can only be achieved through honest age and use, it is a fully buttoned example so the back base and arms, it is a collectors dream as you will never seen another one
Porters armchairs and later sofas we invented in the 18th century, they were designed to keep the drafts in large Georgian homes off your face and of course, if you had house staff such as "porters" they would use the chair during night shifts
The sofa has been fully restored to include having the old colour washed out, its then been hand dyed six times, antiqued, sealed, waxed down and polished, it has kept all the original age related imperfections such as leather dents and general wear as it all adds to the charm and character, if you are looking for a perfect sofa this isn't it, if your looking for a perfect original antique then this is
