About the Item

Sofa designed by Rodolfo Dordini in 2019. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy. A sophisticated haute couture design featuring elegant details reminiscent of classic fine tailoring. Special stitiching around the seams on the backrest/armrest creates a refined dart, from which a zipper runs to the base of the sofa, just like on a dress. Its appearance is further enhanced by grosgrain piping around the seat cushions, available in black, grey and latte. Dress-Up! has an extensive range of elements that can be combined in numerous arrangements or used individually; from the corner element in two lengths to the higher backrest cushion, paired with an additional bolster for greater lumbar and shoulder comfort. The geometric lines and asymmetrical elements, such as the integrated chaise-longue, make the sofa unique and versatile, while the open-tilt backrest/armrest emphasizes its welcoming shape. The match-ing ottomans, available in two sizes, have the same grosgrain piping, plus a vertical zipper along the side. A series of low tables and coordinated cushions complete the product family. *Decorative extra cushions are included. Since then, he has designed for most of the leading names in the furniture and lighting sectors. For some of these, as head of design, he sets and co-ordinates the strategy of the product. Since years, he worked as a designer and a consultant for high level brands, for product design with Artemide and Moroso, and for shops, showrooms and exhibitions with Panasonic and Dolce & Gabbana. He also designs housing projects, villas, industrial buildings, restaurants and hotels both in Italy and worldwide. In 2005 he founded, with Alessandro Acerbi and Luca Zaniboni, the Dordoni Architects Studio, which is dedicated specifically to architectural planning and interior design. About the manufacturer: In a continuing dialogue between past, present, and future, Cassina has created the I Maestri collection, revisiting furnishing designs by the 20th century’s best-known architects, including Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, Franco Albini, Frank Lloyd Wright and Marco Zanuso. Furniture manufacturer Cassina is a prolific design house for more reasons than one: It not only owns the licenses to an exquisite collection of iconic chairs, sofas, tables and other pieces from the 20th and 21st centuries but also produces original works that are characterized by innovation and the finest Italian craftsmanship.

Cassina’s illustrious legacy includes being one of the first companies to bring industrial design to Italy in the 1950s. Founded in 1927 in Meda, Italy, by brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina, the Italian manufacturing giant originally specialized in bespoke woodworking. In nearly a century since its founding, the company has shown incredible foresight about design trends and the evolution of technology.

In 1964, Cassina signed an exclusive licensing agreement to manufacture furniture by Le Corbusier and his collaborators — such as the LC4 chaise longue made with trailblazing French modernist Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret — a move that would shape the future of the company.
