Luigi Caccia Dominioni for Azucena, toro sofa, red and green fabric, Italy, circa 1960
This sofa model 'P20B Toro' is produced by Azucena. The set of sofas is designed by Luigi Caccio Dominioni who was based in Milan. The sofa is nicknamed Toro which is used because of several elements such as the iron handles on the ends of the armrests and the thick circular headrest. The shape of the sofa is bulky, full and round which also gives off the general feel of a full, robust entity. The sofa is built up of several rounded elements such as the seat, then on top of that another role that functions as both backrest and armrests and then lastly a role that functions solely as a backrest. A simplistic design with sculptural effects.
