About the Item

Aleksander Oniszh Pawn stool by Nów Designed by Aleksander Oniszh Dimensions: D 35 x W 31 x H 46 cm Materials: american cherry, american walnut, sapelli, canadian maple. Aleksander Oniszh: Furniture designer and maker. He was trained in architectural and urban design at University of Applied Arts in Vienna. He is passionate about crafts and applied arts. Since 2013 he has been professionally involved in carpentry and runs his own studio ONISZH, where he designs and handcrafts furniture out of solid wood. He carries out his projects in Poland and abroad. In his realisations he undertakes a dialogue between the form and function of the object and its surrounding space. He combines modern forms with classical technical solutions. His use of material is based on deep understanding of the physicality of wood and its structural properties. In making of his artistic choices he is guided by intuition. Nów: We are artisans and promoters of handcrafted production. We come from different parts of Poland, we have different professional experiences. We draw from tradition, although we do not strictly adhere to artisanal rules. We choose the freedom to experiment - with form, material, and the production process. We spread knowledge about contemporary Polish crafts in the country and abroad. We represent the interests of craftsmen in contacts with public institutions and business. Together, we create the New Moon Association. New Craft - an organization of modern craftsmen. Originators of the New Moon Association. New Craft are Olga Milczynska and Malgorzata Herman from Projekt Pracownie.
