About the Item

This petite 19th-century stool from China's Shanxi province charms with its top-heavy form and fantastic, wabi-sabi texture. As evidenced by the many blade marks on the top, the stool originally doubled as a small chopping block for fruits and vegetables. Like a mushroom pushing up from the forest floor, the stool has a low stature and a thick, round top, now beautifully weathered from years of use. Found tree branches comprise the splayed leg base, each one unique for a natural, asymmetrical form. Left untouched to preserve its timeworn finish, the little stool is ideal today as a tabletop pedestal, plant stand or sculptural object. Additional Dimensions: Diameter of Seat: 9"
