Fumed English Oak Stool
About the Item
This beautiful English Oak stool and side table is perfect for any room of the house. The ideal height as a stool for seating, or equally useful as a side table and bedside table.
Turned a fantastically rich brown through the traditional proccess of fuming, this technique has been used for centuries when doing repairs on old English country houses. This contemporary twist on an old fashioned method offers a unique colour pallette that simply cannot be achieved using stains or dyes.
This piece is handcrafted by me, Gareth 'Goldfinch' Brookes in my Manchester studio using a variety of hand tools and time tested techniques. Running your hands on the curved edges of the piece allows you to feel the tool marks that I have used creating a wonderfully tactile experience. These stools are aade slowly and carefully as a celebration of British craftsmanship.
