About the Item
This is an old Japanese stool, crafted in the early Showa period (1940s–1960s).
It is believed to be made from paulownia wood (kiri), a material that is now considered quite rare and precious. The soft, flowing grain unique to paulownia adds a refined beauty to this otherwise simple, yet striking piece.
One of the most captivating features of this stool is the way it has been reinforced with copper plates to repair a crack. Even the nails used are made of copper, reflecting the restorer’s deep sense of craftsmanship and aesthetics. Rather than simply being a repair, this detail becomes a compelling part of the design—a unique accent that enhances the character of the stool. The warm copper tones contrast beautifully with the dark wooden surface, giving it the presence of an art piece.
While the legs are sturdy and well-balanced. There is no wobbling, and the stool is in excellent, reliable condition. Functional yet sculptural, it serves not only as a practical seat but also as a distinctive object for display or interior decoration.
This stool embodies the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi—where aged materials and the visible marks of time and repair are elevated into a new kind of beauty.
It is truly a one-of-a-kind piece, where history and craftsmanship harmoniously converge.
Weight: 8.5 kg

Our Philosophy
Objects always tell the truth.
All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give
them deep affection as much as I can.
There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty.
But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it
will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing
today and to question us about an essence of beauty again.
I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have,
feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
