Michel Boyer "X" stools for Rouve, France 1968

About the Item

Michel Boyer "X" stools for Rouve, France, 1968. Iconic design composed of curved stainless steel frame with a leather cushion. The stools feature their original black leather cushions, showing an impeccable matching patina that highlights their history and creates a lovely contrast with the sleek brushed steel. A great opportunity for someone looking to possess these iconic stools in original museum-quality condition. The stools are, of course, functional, but they are above all outstanding sculptural objects that evoke an interesting contradiction between traditional shapes—reminiscent of ancient Roman curule seats (symbols of power and status)—and modern design with matching use of materials. The eye-catching silhouette is defined by the curved legs, which form the "X" and give the stools their name. Due to the use of stiff and sturdy stainless steel, the stools are very strong and solid. In excellent, authentic condition.
