Olof Kettunen for J. Merivaara Red Lacquered Plywood % Steel Stool Stendig 1950s

About the Item

Designed in the 1950s by Olof Kettunen, this example is one of the few imported into the US by Stendig. Stendig wasn't around for a very long time, and no longer has any active showrooms. Manufactured by J. Merivaara in Scandinavia, it has a seat of bent plywood with two handholds on either side. Lacquered in a bright red, it is set on a grey lacquered steel base. Signed beneath with a Stendig label. We have kept it in original condition for collectors, but it can be completely restored upon request for some extra cost. This would involve removing any and all old lacquer from the seat and the base and application of new color by our in-house professionals. In otherwise good shape for being 70 years old. No breaks and perfect structurally. See images for signs of use.
