About the Item

Rare Sculptural Stool “Sedes” by Ron van de Ven, 1998 — Numbered 1/15 Offered here is an exceptionally rare collector’s piece: the “Sedes” sculptural stool by Dutch artist and designer Ron van de Ven, created in 1998. This striking work blurs the line between furniture and sculpture, showcasing van de Ven’s unique approach to form, balance, and materiality. The stool is beautifully constructed from rich panga panga wood — an exotic African hardwood prized for its dramatic grain — paired with a bold, cast aluminum structure that acts as both support and visual statement. This masterful interplay of warm organic wood and cool industrial metal is a hallmark of van de Ven’s limited work. Although the edition is technically numbered 1/15, the artist has confirmed that only 6 pieces were ever produced, making this an exceptionally rare find for collectors and design connoisseurs. We currently have two available from this elusive series — this one (1/15) and another numbered 2/15. Dimensions: Width: 40 cm (15.75 in) Depth: 43 cm (16.93 in) Height: 66 cm (25.98 in) Seat height: 47 cm (18.50 in) Condition: Excellent vintage condition, with only minimal wear consistent with age and use. About Ron van de Ven: Ron van de Ven (Dutch, b. 1960) is known for his sculptural, almost architectural furniture designs that fuse art and function. His work emerged during the 1990s when he explored limited-edition and one-off pieces that challenge conventional ideas of seating and form. Van de Ven’s rare pieces are held in private collections worldwide and are seldom seen on the market, making this a remarkable acquisition for collectors of contemporary collectible design. Colors may slightly vary due to photographic lighting sources or your monitor settings. Wear consistent with age and use. The stool will be shipped insured overseas in a custom made wooden crate. Cost of insured transport to the US is Euro 425 crate included if we organize the transport which we highly recommend.
