About the Item

The Tutankhamun Mod 1063 Stool was created by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn in 1941 and was inspired by a stool found in Tutankhamun's tomb in November 1922. It is a magnificent object, very decorative, in its most beautiful mahogany version. Josef Frank grew up in Vienna in a Jewish family; forced into exile, he settled in Stockholm in 1933. He is considered one of the founders of Swedish modern design. From then on he worked mainly in the field of furniture and interior design, designing furniture, wallpaper patterns and fabric prints for Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm. He is represented at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and the Röhss Museum in Gothenburg.
