About the Item

The "Smoker's Bow" is the chair that all later Windsor chairs were made after. This iconic chair, crafted from the long established skill of English woodworkers, features remarkable hand-turned spindles in the backrest and legs. Built sometime in the late 19th century, the rich, patinated wooden frame pairs gracefully with the striated grain pattern of the English elm. A classic staple of old English pubs and old world English cottages, the "Smoker's Bow" transforms any space with instant personality and warmth. This piece is in beautiful, fair condition. It is safe to expect warping of wood from its age along with discoloration to the finish and wear. There is a noticeable warp present in the seat of the chair. The chair is structurally stable and ready to be used.
