Regency circa 1815 Fluted Barrel Back Leather Wing Armchair and Matching Stool

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare original hand dyed Regency circa 1815 fluted barrel back armchair and matching footstool A lovely pair and of the finest quality I have ever seen. The frames are all mahogany, the back and sides are one solid panel of premium leather, usually they are split into three panels to save money, the seat cushions has what’s called Thomas Chippendale floating buttons, they were originally designed by Chippendale in the 18th century The stool came originally with the chair, this type is sloped and was used for people with medical aliments in their legs and feet, the angle is supposed to help recovery so if you have sore feet this is the stool for you! We have cleaned waxed and polished the pair from top to bottom, there will be age related patina marks here and there but the condition is sublime. I can have them hand dyed a wonderful cigar or whisky brown color for a fee should the new owner wish Armchair dimensions: Height 111.5cm, seat height 48cm Width 73cm Depth 79cm Stool dimensions: Height 37cm Width 55cm Depth 29.5cm This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
