About the Item

A fine hand carved cassone, probably in oak, with relief carved scrollwork dragons flanking a central shield adorning the front panel, carved figural corners, forged wrought iron strap hinges, an interior till, all supported with two front carved paw feet and rear block feet. Italian in origin, dating to the 18th century, in very good overall condition, with some restorations, great overall patina, minor surface rubs and losses, shrinkage cracks, and wear commensurate with age and use. Some minor warp to the top and minor evidence of old insect damage. Dimensions: 22.25 in H x 61 in W x 21 in D. Ref: 13380
