About the Item

18th Century English Oak Coffer with a Compass Star Inlay. This were commonly referred to as Lancashire Mule Chest or Blanket Chest. Beautiful cross banded design and paneled front. Crossbanding is a technique used to apply veneer, a thin layer of wood, to furniture or other surfaces. Lift top construction with double drawers. The coffer retains its original brasses.
