19th Century Japanese Meiji Period Elmwood Chest with Iron Hardware

About the Item

19th century Japanese elmwood blanket chest. Rustic Meiji period chest featuring hammered iron hardware, a flat hinged top and bracket feet with two carrying handles on the sides. The oversized iron hinges and corner reinforcements highlight its excellent craftsmanship while the iron lock clasp and connecting chain further secure the top and add great detail. The chest has a distressed patina which adds lots of warmth and character. It is sturdy and has maintained its structural integrity. A well-appointed, beautiful antique with plenty of storage inside surely to be a useful addition to any room.
