About the Item

This 18th-century antique chest, probably from Northern Europe or a Dutch colony, is made of elm wood. It has brass heart-shaped interlocking fittings, iron hinges, black metal handles, and solid curved legs. It offers a spacious interior with a small compartment, ideal for storage, and is in good condition despite natural wear and tear. Alternatively, it can be used as a coffee table with storage space. The lock is not original, it was replaced sometime in the past but it is functional.

    Repaired: The chest has a small wooden patch at the bottom . Replacements made: The lock is not original, it was replaced sometime in the past but it is functional. Wear consistent with age and use. The chest has a small wooden patch at the bottom and traces of an inactive woodworm in places, which is common with such old objects. The chest was chemically treated against pests as a preventive measure.
