Royal House Antiques Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this absolutely exquisite Antique hand carved solid Danish Oak trunk or coffer which is dated 1631 Please note the delivery fee listed is just a guide, it covers within the M25 only for the UK and local Europe only for international, if you would like an accurate quote please send me your postcode and I’ll provide you with the exact price This piece is absolutely stunning, it was most likely made for an important union of two family's, the carved panels to the front depict a rather scholarly-looking gentleman, a lady and a persist, the top has the following carved in to it HVENG VD ER MED OS HVEN KAND VER OS I MOID A MD which using google translate means WHEN VD IS WITH US WHEN CAN VER US IN MOID A MD which basically means google translate doesn't understand the dialect or some of the letters have different meanings, the inscription is finished with the date 1631 The metal work is all original wrought iron, the handles are especially wonderful, the lock has the original key which even though its slightly bent, it still operates the lock Condition wise we have deep cleaned, hand condition waxed and hand polished the piece from top to bottom, there are normal age and use related patina marks here and there as you would expect.
