An Indonesian 19th century merchant's blanket chest on wheels from Madura, with hand-painted and carved front showcasing tribal designs. Created in Madura off of the northeastern coast of Java during the 19th century, this merchant's chest draws our attention with its polychrome façade made of an abundance of pink, blue, green and yellow motifs standing out beautifully on the chest's brown dovetailed structure. The rectangular lid opens to reveal a deep interior flanked with wooden boxes, while the ensemble is resting on four wheels. With its abundant polychrome décor and nice proportions, this 19th century Indian Madurese blanket chest will be a great addition to any home!
