1960s Open Bookcase with Chest of Drawers by Vittorio Dassi for G. Cecchini & C.

About the Item

1960s Open Bookcase with Chest of Drawers by Vittorio Dassi for G. Cecchini and C in Massive and Veneered Teak. Polished brass accessories and lacquered metal legs Vittorio Dassi The furniture of Vittorio Dassi (1893-1973), made in the 40s and 50s, stands out for the choice of precious woods such as rosewood, cherry, ash and walnut, often decorated with inlaid panels and crystals signed by great glass masters. Elegant in design without losing functional quality, his furnishings can be combined with the refined style of Gio Ponti, to whom Vittorio was linked through important collaborations after taking over from his father in the Dassi Mobili Moderni company in Lissone. Among the most important projects of the factory there is in fact the creation of the furniture for the rooms of the Hotel Royal in Naples, designed by Ponti in the mid-1950s, a period that marks Dassi's turning point towards more schematic shapes and teak wood for the production of modular furniture.
