About the Item

A Beautifully Crafted 19th Century Venetian Mirrored Bureau Bookcase in Briar Wood This elegant piece features an upper section crowned with a handsome, architectural serpentine pediment. Below, the cabinet displays wonderful concave sides adorned with raised panel decoration. The interior is lined with aged velvet fabric and houses three shelves, all enclosed by mirrored doors framed with attractive moulding. Original working lock and key included. The lower half continues the theme of elegant concave curves and fielded panels. The fall-front bureau opens to reveal a large central cubby hole, flanked by four generously sized drawers, all finished in stunning briar wood veneers with contrasting inlay. Beneath the bureau section lies a discreet secret drawer, followed by three additional drawers, offering ample storage. All drawers retain their original working locks and key. The entire piece stands gracefully on petite, elegant legs. A most attractive, beautifully crafted, and functional piece of antique furniture, made by the skilled craftsmen of this Italian region.
