Beautiful antique mahogany book mill with lovely marquetry. Inlaid with satinwood. Superb quality book mill from the renowned 19th-century English furniture maker Maple & Co. with its characteristic cast iron base. Beautiful color and appearance. A unique feature is that this book mill is higher as usual.

The maker, Maple & Co., was the world's leading manufacturer of high-quality furniture towards the end of the Victorian period (around 1880). The firm furnished Tsar Nicholas's Winter Palace, the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, all the major English embassies worldwide, countless country houses, and grand hotels. Everyone of significance at the end of the 19th century had their furniture made by Maple & Co. The quality and craftsmanship of these pieces are exceptionally beautiful.
