About the Item

Here we have a Late 20th Century Antique Sheraton Style Mahogany Inlaid Breakfront Open Bookcase with Shelves. This wonderful open bookcase has three sections, each section is fitted with 5 adjustable shelves, which is great for accommodating various sizes of books and items. The top is inlaid with floral detailing and borders in the Sheraton Style and the top is finished off with a moulded dentil cornice. Sheraton Style: Thomas Sheraton (1751 – 1806) was a furniture designer, one of the "big three" English furniture makers of the 18th century, along with Thomas Chippendale and George Hepplewhite. The Sheraton style in furniture, named after English designer Thomas Sheraton, is characterised by its light, delicate, and refined aesthetic, with a strong emphasis on straight lines, geometric shapes, and classical motifs. It emerged in the late 18th century as a reaction to the heavier, more ornate styles that preceded it, drawing inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman design.
