Large Napoleon III Style Oak Bookcase – Four Seasons Theme
About the Item
Impressive Napoleon III style oak bookcase, richly carved with the allegorical theme of the Four Seasons. The lower doors feature high-relief panels with cherubic figures depicting seasonal scenes: harvesting, grape picking, fishing, and pastoral play.
The upper section is adorned with garlands, classical faces, hunting scenes, and symbolic decorative elements. A large arched pediment crowns the ensemble, featuring a hunting trophy with a bird, horn, rifle, and an abundance of fruits and flowers. The rounded side doors display still-life carvings of fish and game in deep relief.
