Rare Danish carved mahogany bookcase circa 1840.
2 part bookcase. Top section with hidden drawer below the cornice. Applied carving to corners and around the key hole. Double glazed doors open to 2 shelves with fixed height brackets for a further shelf.
Lower section with flame mahogany top and carved edge in the solid. Double doors with decorative swags and applied carvings really sets this piece apart. Doors open to reveal a further 2 shelves.
Standing on 4 heavily carved feet.
Age shrinkage to bookcase sides, between the planks of timber used. Minor losses and carving on cornice and restoration.
