About the Item

Introducing a rare pyramidal Étagère designed by the influential American designer John Van Koert for the lauded Drexel Company. Constructed in the late 1950's from a mix of solid and veneered black walnut this incredibly rare and architecturally fascinating book-shelf is ideal for collectors and designers alike searching for an early American Mid-Century Modern piece. Recently painstakingly restored by our team of craftsman, this minimal - yet stylish Étagère is ready for a literal lifetime more of use. With it's audacious pyramidal shape, superb old-growth woodgrains and versatility ( able to function as a stand-alone wall unit, book shelf, display or room-divider) this sculptural Étagère can blend seamlessly against a myriad of design backdrops from Mid-Century Modern to BOHO Chic to Contemporary and everything in between. With exceptionally few of these pieces available for sale in North America and fewer still in such pristine condition, this etagère won't last long. Make it yours today before it's gone forever. ---Dimensions--- Width: 54 in / 137.16 cm Depth: 19 in / 48.26 cm Height: 42.5 in / 107.95 cm This architecturally fascinating bookshelf has recently undergone a comprehensive and transformative restoration process and we love the results! Every surface of the piece has been hand-sanded and refinished in exact accordance with the original materials bringing the variegated woodgrains of the solid and veneered black walnut back to their original luster. There are no scratches, gouges or other damage present. This free-standing unit is functional, structurally solid and ready for a lifetime more of use thanks to it's recent restoration process. Please view all photos and video provided for details on this Étagère's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
