Walnut Louis XV Bookcase with Glass Doors, circa 1890

About the Item

Elegant in every way, this late-19th century, Louis XV bookcase is as stunning as it is practical. The beautiful, tight grain of walnut, finished in a medium stain is showcased on the exterior. Inside, the bookcase is comprised of oak. The bookcase's design features a gracefulness that is evident in its arched bonnet, rounded corners, curved lattice front doors, scalloped apron, and cabriole legs that terminate in whorl feet. Louis XV carvings of scrolled leaves, shells, flowers and additional scroll work adorn the bookcase in a way that is neither overwhelming or underwhelming. The glass pane doors open to three adjustable shelves that allow your items on display to be visible from many angles. Decorative brass escutcheons accent the bookcase.
