Waring and Gillows breakfront bookcase

About the Item

Waring and Gillows breakfront bookcase This Waring and Gillows breakfront bookcase was made circa 1910. The break fronted bookcase is made in fine mahogany and made in 3 sections; this allows for easy transportation to your home. The top section has 4 astragal glazed doors that open to allow access to the adjustable shelves inside. The doors have fine brass stays so that the doors cannot swing out too far. The base section with the finely carved edge stands on short claw and ball cabriole legs. It has 4 panel doors, the panels with book matched mahogany to make an interesting design. The door frames having applied roundels and a deep moulding to the edge of the panels. These doors open to reveal the shelves in the interior. Waring and Gillow were formed in 1897, when Warings of Liverpool joined with Gillow of Lancaster. Both companies were famous for making the finest quality of furniture to be sold to the wealthy industrialist and entrepreneurs of the time. Gillow had been synonymous for their exquisite quality items and are still very sought after today. 254cms wide 100ins 221cms high 87ins 47cms deep 18 1/2ins All measurements are as accurate as possible.
