About the Item

A so-called Maria Theresa cabinet (furniture type named after the Austrian empress) or Baroque hall cabinet from the 18th century. On ball feet standing two-door coniferous corpus divisible by means of wedge connection with profiled plinth and cornice with attached cornice, as well as slanted pilaster strips. Walnut and burl veneered with marquetry in the form of ribbonwork and thread inlays of other precious woods. Interior fitted with shelves and fully lined with fabric. Mirror attached to the inside of the left door. Original lock and key. Dimensions: 209 cm high / 82.3 inch high, 190 cm (headboard) wide / 74.8 inch wide, 45 cm or 58 cm (headboard) deep / 17.7 inch or 22.8 inch (headboard) deep. Restored condition. Among other things, veneer additions, veneer gluing, minor puttying and retouching, as well as cleaning of the surface and application of a shellac handpolish (french polish). Reproduction and assembly of missing profile strips on the base right and left.
