About the Item

A stunning 18th Century Ormolu Mounted French Kingwood Cabinet/Vitrine. The cabinet features twin large glazed doors. Each door is finished with Kingwood and separated by inlaid brass banding and set with finely wrought gold gilt mounts. The twin doors open to reveal four glazed shelves and a wooden backing. The cabinet itself is raised on four gold gitl wood mounted toupie feet, with the base above finished, like the doors, with kingwood veneers. The base is adorned with fine ormolu rosettes and classical mask mounts. The detailing throughout is superb: Kingwood veneers accent the edges and corners of each plane—enclosed, as with the doors, with inlaid brass bands. The cabinet/vitrine is a superb example of fine demonstration of skilled craftsmanship, utilising exceptional materials and delicate techniques.
