About the Item

New finds from Kominka (old traditional style house) owned by an old established family, Ibaraki pref. , Japan. This vintage glass cabinet was manufactured as bookcase in circa 1940s. The previous owner got it as a gift from the school when he retired his school president's post - heard from the owner's family. The glass areas are replaced by the seller. The upper, glass cabinet part and the bottom drawers part can be separated - but the top panel of the bottom part isn't tough enough to put something on it (the upper part is held with structural frames). Suitable for bookcase - of course, and also, display cabinet, cupboard, collector's cabinet too. It's still durable enough for actual & and further use. It needs to push the front doors a bit when close, since these are slightly warped. While the drawers open & close smoothly. This piece is one of the "Ashed" line furnitures of my shop items - washed off the remained old vanish by the lye made from the hardwood ashes, then re-finished with homemade, water-based sheer matte polish mist made of beeswax & linseed oil. Not shiny, but touches are smooth. Dear customer - feel free to inquire me for the shipping fee quote. The shipping fee showed in the page is automatically calculated by the system, I'm able to offer reasonable quote via Fedex.
