Antique French Serpentine Vernis Martin Display Cabinet

About the Item

Antique French Serpentine Vernis Martin Display Cabinet – 19th Century An elegant 19th-century French serpentine display cabinet featuring intricate Vernis Martin lacquer panels. The cabinet is crafted in a serpentine shape, with gilt-bronze ormolu mounts framing the glazed door, enhancing its regal aesthetic. The lower section is adorned with three finely painted Vernis Martin panels, depicting delicate pastoral and romantic scenes, all bordered with gold detailing. The original velvet-lined interior is in good condition, showing natural wear due to age, providing a luxurious backdrop for display. The cabinet is supported by carved, slender legs, with a slight adjustment required as the rear legs are shorter than the front, making it ideal to sit against a wall for perfect balance. Dimensions: Height: 173 cm Width: 90 cm Depth: 45 cm While showing signs of wear consistent with its age, including fading to the finish and some restoration to the painted panels, this cabinet remains a beautiful and functional statement piece. It combines both fine craftsmanship and historic charm, making it an exceptional addition to any collection or interior.
