Indian Aesthetic Movement Cabinet

About the Item

Very fine late 19th Century Indian cabinet, in richly carved exotic hardwood with brass molded decoration in the Aesthetic taste, the two arched doors over open lower section, having unique brass trim in foliate pattern, the case painstakingly carved with rosettes and other motifs, all in richly patinated padouk wood. Bearing a late 19th Century English repository label. For items in similar taste, please look at the interiors of Leighton House, one of the most important Aesthetic/Exotic interiors ever commissioned. sz.
