Late 19th-Century Transition Style Cabinet in Chinese Lacquer and Marquetry
About the Item
We present a rare and sophisticated Louis XV transition style commode comprising two doors adorned with vivid scenes of life in Chinese lacquer and marquetry. The remaining structure of the dresser is crafted from aged grey rosewood, elegantly poised on an oak frame that subtly showcases a unique double curvature along the front, resembling a crossbow shape. Flanked by neoclassical-inspired chiselled and lavish gilded bronze accents, including falls, clogs, keyholes, and lamp ends, it exudes a great sense of opulence and luxury. Topping it all off is a throat-cut "brocatelle violette du Jura" marble.
This exquisite piece hails from a Parisian workshop located in the Faubourg Saint Antoine and dates back to the late 19th to early 20th century. With its well-proportioned dimensions, measuring 44cm in depth and 109cm in length, it makes a perfect addition for a stylish entrance or living room.
