About the Item

A rare and exceptional pair of early 19th-century English Regency chinoiserie lacquered cabinets, masterfully hand-crafted and exquisitely decorated. Each cabinet features a rectangular case with a gently stepped frame with double doors, opening to reveal shelved interiors, all on a custom made base. The exterior is finished in rich lacquer and adorned with delicate hand-painted gilt chinoiserie scenes, depicting figures in pavilions, serene landscapes, and whimsical birds—each panel showcasing fine Regency-era artistry and narrative detail. The interiors retain original paint and hardware, with warm patination consistent with age. These cabinets are a superb example of English fascination with the exotic during the Regency period, marrying neoclassical form with Eastern-inspired decoration. Ideal as statement pieces in a dining room, salon, or refined study.
