Swedish Modern 1930s Cabinet with newly designed pattern “The Emigrants”

About the Item

This is the Swedish Modern 1930s cabinet with the newly designed pattern “The Emigrants”. The 7500 nails Artwork is completed! The inspiration to the pattern "The Emigrants" is taken from the world famous Swedish author Vilhelm Moberg's novel series of four books - “The Emigrants”, ”Unto a Good Land”, ”The Settlers” and ”The Last Letter Home”. The artwork is presented on a cabinet which, before work on the pattern began, had irreparable damage to the veneer. The cabinet in its original appearance was probably designed by Eugen Höglund, Vetlanda. It comes decorated with 7500 brass nails on a slightly cream colored leatherette covering the two doors and the sides. The top, floor shelf and also the inside of the doors have a rich mahogany stained surface. Four dark stained baluster shaped legs attached to a floor shelf on low, black painted feet. There are two doors. Behind the left one hides three movable shelves and behind the right, one movable shelf and two drawers. The locker works and an ornamented key is included. ____________________ This unknown artist works with worn out or damaged cabinets as base to his artworks. Most often his patterns creates after inspiration from the age and design of the base. ____________________ The author Vilhelm Moberg's series "The Emigrants" takes place between the years 1845-1890. The four books depict a group of Swedes who in 1850 emigrate to North America and the region of Ki-Chi-Saga in Minnesota. In the company are, among many others, Karl Oskar and Kristina and their children, who emigrate to escape poverty and starvation. Karl Oskar's brother Robert and his friend Arvid are also in the group. A few years after their arrival, the two companions travel further towards California. The story is depicted in the musical "Kristina from Duvemåla" written by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.
