A unique late Georgian satinwood collector’s cabinet painted with maritime scenes, of rectangular form with the original marble top above, the leather-inset fall front enclosing an interior comprising seven shallow satinwood and lace wood veneered drawers lined with cedar, the sides and front with oil paintings on copper of maritime scenes, one of the Bay of Naples from a Paul Sandby print after a drawing by Pietro Fabrio, each within applied giltwood pearl mouldings and lilac borders showing arabesques and classical references to the Temple of Neptune in Rome.
