A very fine Pair of 19th Century Pier Cabinets
About the Item
A very fine pair of 19th Century rosewood and distressed parcel gilt pier cabinets, this exceptional pair are superbly hand carved with deeply rich patination and grain. The well figured moulded breakfront top of rectangular form with a fabulous border twist edge is raised over a single panelled cabinet door featuring a shaped mirror glass plate to the central reserve set within a fluted border and which opens to reveal a fitted shelved section, flanked with an elegant pair of ring turned columns embellished with beautifully carved sphere and fluted detail. Supported on moulded platform apron with border twist detail, terminating on stylised onion foot with gadroon motif.
