About the Item

French circa 1850 Italian Commode in the Louis Philippe Manner, Reimagined With a Custom Painted Surface. A period Italian commode in the Louis Philippe manner, from about 1850, with its original marble top. The walnut veneers that originally covered it were in sorry shape, so we put a custom painted finish on it. The finish, with its scumbled Swedishy effect, makes for a nice change - it lightens the look. The wonderfully detailed gilded bronze brasses with swan motifs are early 20th century. Minor Sub-surface chip repairs, very small and tight hairline crack to marble (pictured), painted surface is recent. Gilded bronze brasses are early 20th century. Please note, depending on the delivery location we may be.
