About the Item

Jacobean chest of drawers hand-made in the United Kingdom in the early 1700s using oak. The chest features four inset drawers of different depths and decorated with different patterns of moldings on the drawer fonts. As typical with the style the chest is decorated throughout with the placement of hand-carved molding, positioned in different directions and shapes to provide depth and different geometric patterns, making a generally very simple chest highly ornate and fun. The top is made of three boards with ogee edges nailed to the case. The sides are made of inset flat panels framed by square molding and the chest sits on bun feet. Overall this is a gorgeous and fun chest, its size make it perfect for many different spots and its color provide it with a very contemporary look. The placement of the molding and the black striation of the bleached oak provide it with a lot of depth and decoration, as a result this is a piece that can be used as the main attraction to a room, but can also work to bring together elements of different periods and styles.
