Eyecatching 18th century style gilt Venetian serpentine commode/ chest of drawers from the era around 1940/50. An amazing looking commode/ chest of drawers which has been artfully crafted in the early mid-century period in Venice/ Italy. These kind of elaborately made 18th century "replica" commodes are very famous and popular nowadays. Especially this example is a real superb one, impressing with a lot of intricate details and fantastic gilt floral themed patterns. The surfaces show an absolute extraordinary created patina, looking like it comes actually from the early 18th century. An exceptional shaped body providing two large drawers, elegantly curved slender legs and the unique surfaces make this gilt 18th century style serpentine commode a highly decorative piece of Italian mid-century furniture.

An absolute masterpiece of mid 18th century Italian craftsmanship is this unbelievable artfully crafted marquetry chest of drawers out of Milan. Made around 1760 with highest attention to details, this one of a kind museum-quality commode is not only a precious item of antique furniture, much more it is a real smart investment. The very time-consuming restoration of this masterpiece took us more than 9 weeks and has been done by our most experienced master of restoration. The ultimate goal was it to restore it the old way to keep the unbelievable charme of this valuable 18th century dresser. With an age of more than 260 years, this remarkable rare chest of drawers comes with an elegant shaped body made of spruce and poplar, elaborately set nutwood/ cherry veneer and incredible marquetry works all over this unique italian commode. Providing two large drawers, this outstanding 18th century dresser is adorned by fantastic looking, inlayed depicitions of women surrounded by extensively designed round frames made of maple, nut and plum wood. The largest depiction on the front even runs over both drawers. The top plate is an absolute highlight, impressing with this amazing worked 3D-effect frame made of fine ebony, maple and plum wood which looks like a spiral. The same design has also been used on the front of this precious chest of drawers. The second frame with a slight green shine has been additionally surrounded by thin maple threads. Other exceptional 3D effect maple inlays in form of chain links can be found on both sides of the front pilasters. This exceptional "chain" effect is reinforced by so-called "Schwarlot" paintings - a technique which confers it this special depth.
