About the Item

Chest of drawers hand-made in France in the early 1800 using walnut. The chest presents a beautiful ivory-cream color that was obtained by bleaching the wood and bringing out the natural grain of the wood. Its overall appearance is elegant and warm, despite the light color. The dresser features three inset drawers framed by flat molding and a small rectangular satinwood inlay around the edges. The sides are made of inset panels framed by hand-carved molding and the top consists of three boards with ogee edges. Throughout the piece one may easily see the pegs that were used during construction to hold the joints and top together. This is a beautiful piece that can serve as both a decorative as well as functional daily chest of drawers.
