About the Item

Louis XVI commode hand-made in Portugal in the early 1800s using mahogany and decorated with mahogany and fruitwood veneer. The commode features three rows of inset drawers; the top row is divided into three smaller drawers, whereas the bottom two rows are each a single, large drawer. All drawers show beautiful, large, hand-made dovetail joints and their fronts are decorated with an intricate veneer pattern, that gives the commode a lot of depth and well as a very unique look. The top and the sides are flat, and also decorated with veneer. The really cool and unique thing about this piece is the fact the the sides are different from each other; while they both have bookmatched veneer framed within linear veneer, the pattern created by the bookmatching is different. This little detail make this a fun and very unique piece. Overall this is a very elegant commode, with long legs and straight lines, making it perfect for many different sports and purposes. It could be used to dress up a room, or to set the tone of your household when one enters a foyer. Regardless of where it is placed this commode will add style and decoration while also being practical; the drawers work perfectly and will provide plenty of storage space.
