About the Item
A fabulous pair of 20th Century richly patinated, well figured mahogany and kingwood marquetry inlaid marble top bedside chests of exceptional quality. This stunning pair are finely carved, quarter veneered, fitted with well cast ormolu mounts and feature highly inlaid marquetry panel detail throughout. The striking moulded Sienna Marble serpentine top of rectangular form is raised above two quarter veneered drawers with decorative ormolu foliate swan neck handles and are adorned to the central reserve with exquisite marquetry inlaid panels of an arrangement of flowers and foliate motifs within a cross banded border above an elegantly simple serpentine frieze. Supported on gracefully tapering cabriole leg featuring further ormolu mounts to the knee with gorgeous foliate motif detail, terminating on finely cast foliate ormolu mounted sabot foot.
